Music Classes for Little Ones
Quick story time: When I was pregnant with my first, I was a music teacher for little kids under 5 years old. A friend of mine asked if I wanted to join the program she was teaching at. I had never played music for kids yet, and so I didn’t know what to expect. It took me about one class to know that I had completely fallen in love. There was a sweet 3 year old boy who would come and lay his head down on my pregnant belly while I sang. *cue hormonal pregnancy sobbing!* I loved that experience, and I hoped that I would have an opportunity to do something involving music and kids again in the future.
Fast forward a few years and I now have two children and the opportunity I was hoping for has arrived. I’ll be leading little kids in song, movement, and restful exercises at The Nest in Grass Valley. I have a handful of children’s songs that I’ve written myself, more songs that I’ve adapted from their old-and-outdated form, and other well known songs in my repertoire.
I’m interested in using song and movement to help regulate little bodies and create connection. I’m also interested in how we can use music to rest and refresh. I’m excited to put all of these things to use!
We’re launching with one pilot class this Spring. Starting March 2nd, I’m teaching a class for little ones under 3.5 years old. Babies are welcome! An adult is required to attend the class and help littles move through transitions. This makes it a perfect setting for babies and young toddlers alike. In Summer we will expand our sessions to include classes for 3-6 year olds.
